The problem this solves
AI assistants answer the question they think you asked. A one-line prompt forces the AI to guess what "done" looks like, how big the job is, what already exists, and what's off-limits — and every wrong guess costs you a round of corrections, or worse, a confident answer to the wrong question.
What this does about it
Each template hands the AI exactly the things it would otherwise guess: the outcome you want (WHEN DONE, I WILL HAVE), the size and care level (TASK SIZE — "big job" makes the AI show a plan and wait for your OK), what already exists (USEFUL CONTEXT), and the boundaries (DO NOT). Front-loading these reliably turns "pretty good" sessions into excellent ones — and it takes about two minutes.
How to use it
- Pick the template that matches your intent — or just use Universal; it alone carries most of the value.
- Fill what's easy. Skip anything you'd have to think hard about — empty fields are left out automatically. Only REQUEST is required.
- Copy, then paste as the first message of a new chat with any AI. That's it.
Field cheat-sheet
- REQUEST — what you want, one plain sentence.
- WHEN DONE, I WILL HAVE — what should EXIST at the end. The single highest-value line on the page.
- TASK SIZE — quick answer / normal / big job (big job = plan first, wait for approval).
- USEFUL CONTEXT — files, links, earlier chats, anything that already exists.
- DO NOT — off-limits things. Stops unrequested "improvements".
- Hover any i for the rest.
